Chiefs Message

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.  The De Beque Fire Protection District continues to work diligently to improve our services to our area.  The De Beque Fire Protection District serves over 767 square miles within both Mesa and Garfield Counties.  63% of our response area is located in Garfield County and the remainder within Mesa County.  Medical direction is admininstered through the Mesa County Medical Director.  The Fire District has paid full-time personnel working a 48/96 shift schedule.  The men and women of the De Beque Fire Protection District are committed to serving the Fire District response area.  De Beque Fire Protection District responds to over 200 EMS and Fire incidents annually. 


In June 2020 the De Beque Fire Protection District ISO rating was evaluated and the ISO improved the protection class to a 3-3/Y.


Emergency Medical Services responses account for the majority of our emergency response.  Personnel continually work to improve their skills and call upon their resourcefulness to provide the best service they possibly can to patients.


De Beque Fire District provides Structural firefighting, Hazardous Materials Operations level response, Emergency Medical response and transportation, and Wildland Fire Suppression.  The Fire District is developing specialized skills programs for Swift Water Rescue, Ice Rescue, and High and Low angle Technical Rescue.
